Logo Challenge Day 1 : Rocket Ship Logo

Today I decided to try my hand at the Daily Logo Challenge I have seen all over Reddit the past few weeks. The concept is simple: every day you are emailed a simple prompt of a logo to design. The email includes a few sample company names, but for the most part, you just go for it!

If you are interested in giving this challenge a go, join in the fun at dailylogochallenge.com.

I'm really excited to flex my design muscles a little bit and hopefully learn more about current design trends and techniques! I am planning on doing a much larger concept project in the near future, but this will be a great way to get started!

Day 1: Rocket Ship Logo

I decided not to go with any of the suggested names (Aerolite, Axis, Comet, Quasar), and eventually landed on the name "Limit". The choice came mostly out of the symmetrical nature of the word itself, and since choosing it, I have gotten a little in my head about it. I was thinking "we're pushing the limit" and "the limit does not exist" (yes, that is a Mean Girls reference), but the more I think about it, I do worry that "Limit" might be... well... Limiting.

All that being said, I am happy with the logo itself. I tried not to over think it, and keep it sleek and professional. With a prompt like "Rocket Ship" I think it could be extremely easy to go in a cartoonish direction, with a silly representation of space vehicles, but when you really think about what that company would actually be involved with, "cartoon" probably isn't the vibe they would be going for.

I decided to keep things extremely simple, with a minimalist object flying above the "Limit".

I wanted to create a round version of the logo as well. I'm a firm believer that in order to create a successful brand, the logo must be flexible and appear in multiple itterations.

I might revisit this one in the future. It's a really interesting concept and there are so many possibilities! But for the moment, I'm happy with my Day 1 result.
